About ESC


       Environmental Study centre is a brain child of Kids ® and JSNT ® was established in 2007-08 with a focus on environmental learning, understanding, sharing knowledge and experience. We focus on eco friendly life styles, medicinal plant and address climate change regionally. We do focus on value education significance in daily life action in schools and colleges.

Our Mission

We do focus on value education significance in daily life action in schools and colleges, We were visiting schools every fortnight and conducting interaction with the Eco-Club children of these schools. ESC with a focus on research, education regarding biodiversity, forest fire and ecosystem adaptability, as always are activities based.

 Activity


Eco-friendly / sustainable mode of livelihood promotion in schools and community: The KIDS® had adopted 25 schools of its vicinity to develop them as an Eco-friendly school in the district since 2009, during the year2011-2012 it has extended to another 5 school in 2014-15, now totally we are covering 30 schools. We were visiting schools every fortnight and conducting different activities like Gardening, waste management, Paper making, vermi compost making, Solar cookers development, Rainwater harvesting, Medicinal plant and Home medicines awareness, Etc…

Environmental Research


Biodiversity Education and Research Lab (BERL), is a research program of ESC with a focus on research, education regarding biodiversity, forest tree phenology, urban tree phenology, homegarden diversity, ethanobotany, folklore knowledge, forest fire and ecosystem adaptability, carbon stock estimation, How to address this issue to a high school student, how to look in to this, can we asses to these question we got answer from phenology – as indicator of climate change. Dr. Nanda, A who have doctoral degree for tree phenology from Kuvempu University. With his guidance we started recording tree species data from 2009 to till date for more than 50 species comprising 5000 individuals in Shivamogga dist. Karnataka. Nearly 600 students involved in this program. ESC is guiding them to understand the impact of Climate change on Avenue tree home garden tree urban as well as forest trees.

Agricultural Research

  Climate change and change in food consumption is the main focus of agricultural research from ESC, presently we are looking at 6 districts for sample selection for the study. They are South Karnataka Tumkur, Central Karnataka Shivamogga, Costal Karnataka Uttar Kannada, Bombay karnataka Gadaga, Hyderabad karnataka and the cereals growing districts Gulbarga and Bidar. The study highlighted many factors influenced the change in food consumption as it directly depends on growth and availability depends on domestic market, profit, labour problem,  rainfall, temperature, market driven food, non availability of traditional varieties due to packed food, seeds, chemicals fertilizers etc.
